College of DuPage and the Forest Preserve of DuPage County have reached a tentative agreement to move the Community Education Farm to Danada Forest Preserve, according to a college press release.

Officials from COD and the Forest Preserve propose the farm be relocated to a one-acre site at Butterfield Rd. and Naperville Rd.

Speaking to the board of trustees, Executive Vice President Joseph Collins said he felt “very happy” to make the announcement Thursday evening.

“It sounds like a wonderful opportunity,” Trustee Kim Savage remarked after Collins’ announcement.

Deborah Adelman, faculty co-coordinator of the farm, expressed her initial reaction.

“We are as surprised as anybody. Nobody has said one word about this to us.  Therefore, I have no comment at the moment other than that,” Adelman wrote in an email.

This is a developing story.
