Gretchen Shelby

Q: As the new Outreach Coordinator, what will you implement first?

A: I will establish a greater presence on social networking sites for the SLC in order to connect with the student body. I feel that the current state of the SLC’s twitter and facebook makes the organization come across as isolated- so I really want to make it so that people know we are very connected with COD’s many clubs, events, and organizations.

Q: What are you most excited about in the future?

A: I am very excited to be working alongside such bright and creative individuals and I can’t wait to hear what ideas we come up with together!

Q: Did you think you were going to win?

A: I tried to keep a positive attitude, but I really didn’t think I was going to. I was extremely nervous, so I made sure I prepped a ton and I think that really helped.

Q: What are you most excited about to get involved with?

A: There is talk of a concert being put together by a few students and I am really looking forward to working with them. They have a really awesome vision and I want to help them achieve it.

Q: What’s your biggest priority?

A: Connecting with the student body and making sure that when someone says “SLC” they know who we are, what we do, and that anyone is welcome to join and make a difference on campus.

Q: Will you run for the same position next year?

A: Yes, I can already tell that I’m going to love this position- and since I’ll be here until next May, why not?

Q: Any future goals?

A: I want to Improve my leadership skills, Improve SLC meeting attendance, Improve SLC membership and Increase student awareness of SLC (events, meetings, goals, committees, etc).

Jordin Gignac

This is my first year at COD and I want to get my Associates in General Studies, even though, that will probably change within this year. I graduated from Oswego East high school with the class of 2012 and worked my whole senior year at The Edge (My old student newspaper). Some of my interests include, listening to Radiohead, playing my guitar, writing poetry (or hard hitting articles) and being with my family and boyfriend of 2 years. One thing that attracted me to being involved in journalism was my urge to write about people that aren’t always noticed. Set aside from journalism, I enjoy watching films. If I can’t be in a career involving my love of literature, then I would definitely get involved in the filmmaking business. Contact Jordin news@cod.edu 630-942-2153
