The Chaparrals split their two games this week defeating Madison College and losing to Joliet Junior College.
Saturday’s game against Madison saw the Chaps dominate on both sides of the ball.
Madison jumped out to an early 14-8 lead seven minutes into the game but the Chaps soon found their rhythm offensively.
Coming off the bench, guard Delbert Williams went on a hot streak draining three’s and scoring 11 of the team’s next 13 points.
The Chaps followed up Williams’ offensive surge with a 12-1 run and the team started to take control of the game.
They were ahead 41-34 going into halftime and as the second half of play started, the Chaps continued to build upon their lead.
They went on a 14-0 run and never looked back as the lead was too much for Madison to overcome. The Chaps won 77-50.
Statistically, the Chaps were led by Williams who scored 16 points and center Ryan Rader’s 11 point, 11 rebound double-double.
Wednesday’s game was a different story for the Chaps as they fell to Joliet Junior College.
Despite having the halftime lead 27-24, the Chaps were outscored and outplayed in the second half as Joliet took the game 62-52.
The Chaps were an even .500 in the month of January going 4-4. They are now 10-13 on the season and will host Milwaukee Tech Saturday Feb. 2.
